The coffee production in the district of "Matão" has more than 100 years of history, passing from generation to generation.
The Women in Coffee project started in 2013, when a group of women got together to organize an association driven to producing specialty coffees. The real change came in 2015 after Eloir Nogueira de Souza won the first place at Paraná Quality Competition. After the Contest, the group started to be more focused in quality coffees. In the following year, with another prize won by the producer Laura de Freitas, the group decided to adopt the selective picking, an idea that worked very well, had a lot of visibility and became a reference for work, unity and dedication.
The work has been recognized worldwide as buyers see extra value added to an already good coffee produced by small farmers with dedication, process and conssitency. With this appreciation, the group is expanding and today counts with more than 24 members.
For the future, the group wants to continue to make excellent coffee, increasing quality and production.
